LIMBO
A boy wakes at the edge of a black-and-white forest and walks toward something he cannot name.
How to play
Walk right, jump, grab and pull. That is the whole control set. The game teaches every idea by putting you in front of it and letting you fail once. Deaths are frequent and quick, and the checkpoint is always a step behind you, so nothing is lost but a few seconds.
Tips and tricks
- Play with the brightness up a notch. The forest hides ledges and rope in the shadows on purpose, and a dim phone loses them.
- When a puzzle stalls you, look for a box, a rope or a switch you have already passed. LIMBO almost never asks for a tool it did not show you first.
- Headphones matter more than you think. The audio cue for a trap often lands before the visual one.
- Do not fight the physics on the water and gravity puzzles late-game. Move slowly and let the momentum settle before your next input.
Why we keep playing
It is the game we hand to anyone who says phone games are shallow. No menus, no timers, no purchases, just a mood that holds for its full length.
Honest note: it is bleak, and a couple of the death animations are genuinely startling. It is also short, roughly three to four hours, so treat the price as the cost of one very good evening rather than a hundred-hour grind.
