The crew
Crestovista is not a magazine and not a studio. It is three people who play games and argue about them: Priya Nadeau, Emmett Sauvé and Colby Rehn. We all live within a couple of bus routes of each other in Vancouver, and the site is really just our group chat with the good parts written down.
It started on a wet night in November 2021. A transformer blew somewhere near Davie Street and half the West End lost power for the evening. Priya had a full battery and a game she had been meaning to start, so the three of us crowded onto one couch and passed the phone around until the credits rolled. When the lights came back, none of us wanted to stop, and the running list of what to play next has not stopped since.
Who we are
Priya Nadeau
Priya runs the chat and finishes everything first. She is drawn to quiet, wordless stories and anything drawn by hand, and she is the reason half this list would work for someone who does not think of themselves as a gamer. If a game makes her cry on the bus, it gets a hard push.
Emmett Sauvé
Emmett is the platformer person. He replays the hard stretches for the timing rather than the trophies, and he keeps the spreadsheet of which downloads are actually worth the storage. He is the one who checks the size, the price and whether a game slips in ads before we ever write about it.
Colby Rehn
Colby reads every credits screen and cares about the studio as much as the game. He is why Never Alone is here, and why we tend to favour the short, made-with-care titles over the endless ones. He usually argues for the game nobody else has heard of.
What we will not pretend about
These are not quick-session games, and we will not dress them up as free. Several are paid, a couple are short enough to finish on a weekend, and one or two are big downloads that will test your storage. We put the price, the length and the size on every card on purpose. We would rather lose a click than have someone feel tricked after spending seven dollars.
We also only play on Android. We are not chasing iOS exclusives, and we refresh the list every few weeks, not with every new release. If a game is not here, it might just mean none of us has finished it yet.
How we make money
We do not. There are no affiliate links, no sponsorships and no ads on this site. Every button sends you to the official Google Play listing at the normal price. Crestovista is a non-commercial project and holds no business registration numbers, because it is not a business. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.
